The week before Christmas and out in Gas City
No driver time off now aint that a pity
The trucks are all idling destroying the air
In hopes some freight soon would be there

The drivers are nestled snug in their bunk
with visions of new trucks that are not junk
Waiting for loads and dreams of big miles
way up in Michigan or only just Niles

The office crew grows smaller and smaller
some maybe working for another hauler
Maybe to keep them they should pay better
or maybe attach them to the desk with a fetter

Now sometimes I still can't help but to wonder
If when my pay the company did plunder
Was it really so much out of a need
or was it just the usual company greed
